"Forbidden Fruit" is the second episode of Season 3, and the twenty-fourth episode of Duckman: Private Dick/Family Man overall. It aired on January 13, 1996.

This episode features the fourth appearance of King Chicken.

Synopsis[]

Urged by the boys' school, the family hires a French live-in tutor (Regine Poulet) to help them with their supposed developmental immaturity. Regine sues Duckman for sexual harassment after he gives her an apple, which, according to Judeo-Christian ideology, is considered sexual as the apple is the forbidden fruit Eve ate and tempted Adam with. Ostracized by the public, Duckman is forced into hiding while a feminist group begins forcing pro-female political correctness on the town. However, the live-in tutor isn't actually who she appears to be.

Plot[]

Duckman is slapped with a sexual harassment charge by the French live-in tutor that Bernice has hired to tutor the boys. The news quickly spreads across the city and Duckman is labeled as "Le Monstre". In search of solitude, Duckman moves in with Fluffy and Uranus; even they reach their breaking point with him.

Meanwhile, the Regine Poulet Society goes on a massive political correctness spree. First they have a berry genetically created similar to Boysenberries called Girlsenberries, the name of the Hebrew language is renamed "Webrew", and they get a constructor worker arrested for simply referring to the sewer system as a manhole.

Continuity[]

  • In this episode and the episode Gland of Opportunity, it is suggested that Charles, Mambo and Ajax attend the same school. However all other episodes establish that they attend two different schools, Mid-City High and Mid-City Jr. High.
  • When it's first revealed that Regine Poulet is really King Chicken in disguise, he is shown wearing masks he had worn as part of previous disguises under his Regine mask: Professor Edwin Biar from "Ride the High School" and Moe Needlemen from "Joking the Chicken". He comments, "I really gotta find a place to store these things."

Trivia[]

  • This is the first time we see Fluffy and Uranus get angry at Duckman (or anybody), and it is the only episode where they swear.
  • It is revealed which of the stuffed bears is Fluffy (pink) and Uranus (light blue) after addressing each other by their names.
  • King Chicken's name while disguised as the French nanny is "Regine Poulet", which translates to "King Chicken."
  • This episode is very similar to the Simpsons episode Homer Badman which aired 2 years earlier. Sexual harassment was a very popular topic at the time. Other cartoons to discuss the topic at the time were Pinky and the Brain, King of the Hill and South Park.
  • Duckman crushes Fluffy and Uranus' Shaun Cassidy record.
