Character[]

In Duckman, he is depicted as a mild-mannered and old schooled gentleman who makes an effort to put up a good front for the public. Merv is more interested in the older ways of appearance, and states the "tacky stuff" that glosses Griff Inc. is simply for the tourists.

Ajax calls him everyday (or at least, he tries to) because he doesn't feel like he can rely on Duckman, his father, to provide the guidance he seeks. It's been Ajax's dream to finally meet Merv Griffin, and he finally does when Ajax and Cornfed take a bus to the casino that houses Merv Inc. Merv is mislead, as he is told one of them "doesn't have long", and he thinks they're referring to Ajax. He soon discovers that Ajax isn't going to die yet, and he's still gonna keep getting the hourly phone calls from Ajax.

When Duckman had become what's essentially referred to as a "Hollywood God", he moved his family into a certain house in Bel-Air. This house was Merv's house, and he was still living there.
